About KISMIF

The KISMIF (Keep It Simple - Make It Fun) Foundation began in 2009, when Dr. Petrick and a diverse group of people with varied talents and abilities launched a grassroots effort to educate the greater Las Vegas community about disability-related issues in Nevada. The resulting vision was to build an Independent Living Center that serves as a one-stop resource for all people with disabilities.

Jeremy NC Newman

President

Many people describe their lives in two parts: "before" and "after" life-changing events. As a former gymnast, marathon runner, strength coach, and skydiver, I lived my “before” life chasing thrills. That changed on May 24, 1997, when a skydiving accident left me paralyzed from the waist down. This challenge, which I take full responsibility for, became a turning point in my mission to inspire others to overcome the "impossible."

Despite my injury, I returned to competitive sports just nine months later, racing in the 1998 Los Angeles Marathon as a wheelchair athlete. Since then, I’ve competed in marathons, triathlons, and countless other races. I relearned downhill skiing and completed the 56-day, 3,600-mile Transcontinental Triathlon in 1999. As one of only two wheelchair triathletes on the US National Team, I’ve participated in seven World Championships, earning a silver medal in 2004 and gold in 2006.

In 2007, I co-founded BODi (formerly Team Beachbody), helping thousands transform their lives through fitness and nutrition. After meeting Dr. Jon Petrick in 2010, I embraced KISMIF (Keep It Simple Make It Fun) and am dedicated to growing it into a program with global reach, positively impacting disabled individuals and volunteers alike.
